Jason Raymond is a Ghanaian-American visual storyteller, writer, and animator based in New York City. Jason Raymond creates animated stories rooted in magical realism, cultural identity, and the transformative experiences of Black youth.

His award-winning thesis film, Waves, follows a young Black boy navigating his relationship with the ocean as a journey toward self-acceptance, identity, and belonging. The film has screened at festivals and continues to resonate with audiences.

Currently, Jason is developing FLY, an animated coming-of-age project about a Black teenager who gains the power to grow wings after a supernatural encounter. Exploring themes of freedom, trauma, ancestry, and self-discovery, the project struck a chord with audiences and surpassed its crowdfunding goal within its first day of launch.

Previously he has worked as an Artistic Intern at Titmouse Animation Studios, where he was selected for the studio's inaugural Future Directors Program. He has also contributed as a storyboard artist to the upcoming animated short film Mmanwu, a visually rich project inspired by West African folklore.

Across all of his work, Jason uses animation as a tool to celebrate Black imagination.
